The Varnaya Rings- Sapphires, tsavorites and tourmalines.

I am so excited to talk about the inspiration and meaning of the Varnaya rings- they are truly one of the most popular designs from Anpé Atelier and are incredibly fun for me to create for my lovely customers. Anpé Atelier is all about color and my designs are focused on using vivacious gemstones such as, sapphires, tsavorites, tourmalines, spinels and more. The Varnaya rings are the perfect mix of gemstones in differing colors, shapes and sizes and are a true manifestation of the colorful Anpé brand.

There are Varnaya rings from the Classic Complexity Collection that are inspired by my own favourite color combinations, however I also create customized version of them as well. Many customized Varnaya’s are inspired by customer’s favorite colors, their birthstones, as well as specific stones representing family members. I love to see the outcome of customized designs because each one is completely different from the other, and simply cannot be recreated due to the uniqueness of each stone’s shape and color. These sapphire cluster rings are sure to become a staple piece in your fine jewellery collection, and something to keep for the rest of your life!

Customized Varnaya rings:

Customized Varnaya rings are a great way to create a meaningful ring that represents your favorite color combinations, represent your family members with birthstones or anything else that inspires you! I am very hands on with the process, as I want to create your ideal, dream ring. I start off by discussing what design scheme you are interested in and then source the stones from my own collection and from gemstone traders. I then start to piece together the stones until you fall in love with a stone combination. Finally, your ring will be handmade and sent off to you to enjoy!

Here are some examples

All About Anpé Atelier: How Do We Work?

Anpé Atelier Cph is a small, woman run business based in Copenhagen, Denmark. You can read more about my background and why I started Anpé here, but today I wanted to talk about how the business works. More specifically, how the bespoke process works, appointments and pop up meetings, as well as the delivery times, sustainablity and how our gems are sourced.

We are two women working in the Anpé Atelier showroom, which is located on Holbergsgade 26, just next to beautiful Nyhavn. It is me and my part-time marketing assistant, Poppy, who is from New York. Anpé is different from most brands, because we are quite small, but this is a blessing in disguise. Being a smaller business allows me to be more personal with my clients and allows for me to create the best fine jewellery experience possible.

Here is some more information and commonly asked questions that I can now answer for you:

The Bespoke Process:

blank

Bespoke jewellery design makes up for a majority of my work at Anpé Atelier and I absolutely love it. Sketching new designs is one of the first things that got me crazy about jewellery in the first place.

The bespoke designs have a very personalised approach which customers seem to enjoy. Each inquiry I get about a customized piece I take very seriously, and I start off by discussing what that person is looking for, whether it be an engagement ring, a push present, a treat yourself ring, and more.

These are the general steps: Together, we source the perfect gemstone that fits your exact want. Next, I sketch the design you had in mind and we go back and forth and fix and add whatever you have in mind. Once you have chosen your design, it is sent out to be processed into a computer graphic design. After you approve, the design is sent to be handmade by our 4 goldsmiths in Sri Lanka.

Lastly, I will receive your piece from Sri Lanka, and I will send over a quick sneak peek just to make sure you 100% approve of it. Once approved by you, it is ready to be shipped off for you to cherish and enjoy! Here is a more detailed blog post on the process.

Appointments & Pop Up Meetings:

Appointments in the Showroom: Appointments can be booked in our showroom through Instagram DM, e-mail or phone. I am available throughout the week and on the weekends for meetings. You can expect to have all of the pieces from our collections, as well as the stock of gemstones we have, present for you to browse through. Together we can discuss your jewellery dreams and create the exact design you are thinking of.

Pop Up Meetings: I host pop up meetings in different cities abroad, where I travel with our Anpé stock to meet customers who can’t make it to Copenhagen. I always post time and place on our social media, and booking happens on a first come, first serve basis. If you know already now, that you want Anpé to come to your city, you can always e-mail me, and I’ll put you on a list to make sure you’ll know as the first, if we come to your city..

For pop up meetings, customers have to make an appointment, where again, we can have one on one time to talk about what you are looking for.

The reason I do it this way is so that I can give you my undivided attention and create an atmosphere where we can talk about the pieces, where you can try everything on with the amount of time you need. I always want to make sure I give my customers the best customer service and personalised experience, so that everyone can leave happy and satisfied.

Delivery Times:

blank

Delivery times from Anpé Atelier vary from other businesses, this is because the pieces are handmade and one of a kind and produced for the individual customer. We have three different ranges, all of which have differing delivery times.

The Classic Complexity range: This range is handmade and all of the designs are completely unique. The designs can be recreated, however they will never look exactly the same as the first because larger sapphires and other gemstones are incredibly individual to one another. Delivery for this collection ranges from 5-10 days, if everything is in stock and in your size. We can have the ring changed to your size, however it might add on a few days.

The Scandinavian Simplicity range: The pieces in the Scandinavian Simplicity Collection is made per order – that means that when you place the order, we will create the specific piece for you. That usually takes 4-5 weeks. However, if you or you’re loved ones are a size 52-53, we often have one in stock in that size.

Bespoke Designs: Every single piece of Anpé jewellery is open for customization as well as can be customized from scratch. Creating a customized piece can take time, as it all depends on how fast we can find the perfect gemstone for you. Please send an e-mail, if you’re looking to create a customized piece, because the delivery time varies greatly.

How We Source Gemstones:

blank

I travelled to Sri Lanka before I started Anpé Atelier, and it was a truly life changing experience. It was the main inspiration for beginning a jewellery brand, and that is because I was introduced to the beautiful and colorful sapphires and other gemstones that are naturally sourced there.

I have formed a very close business relationship with gem traders and goldsmiths who I continue to work with and speak to every single day. It was important to me that I was working with people and companies that have a sustainable and fair mind set.

All of our gemstones are handpicked and comes directly from the mines. The gemstones are mainly from mines in Sri Lanka and Madagascar owned by our very close collaborator – in this way we secure that the gemstones are ethically mined and under good conditions for the people working there.

Sustainability:

blank

Sustainability is not just a hot word we use for marketing purposes. It is truly something that we believe in.

What makes Anpé Atelier sustainable is that we are partial to slow fashion, which means we want to design things that people can wear for long periods of time, as opposed to just something you wear for a season and throw away.

Each item is made per order, and therefor, that means that there isn’t a huge pile of stock laying around. This ensures that there is no sense of overproduction or wasted resources, in terms of the jewellery, labor and transportation.

We work solely with solid gold and gemstones – this secures that the jewellery is of high quality and will never perish and can be passed on through generations.

Conflict Free Diamonds:

blank

Some may not know this, but making sure your diamonds are conflict free is incredibly important. Conflict free diamonds are diamonds that is mined and shipped without connections to rebel or terror groups. These diamonds often originate in war torn areas, which horrendous working conditions for miners and are then illegally traded.

Conflict free diamonds are mined safely and follow a process that prevents any societal or environmental harm.

All diamonds used in Anpé Atelier designs are conflict free.

Custom Jewellery – The Process

Approximately 80 % of the jewellery, I create, is customized jewellery created for that one special person, who either wants to celebrate her or himself, wants to pop the big question or wishes to treat a loved one with a personalized piece of jewellery. I love creating bespoke pieces, as this allows me to be creative together with the customer and make a piece, that is made exactly from that persons dreams and wishes.

Are you looking to create a unique, custom piece for yourself or a loved one? Then here’s a short introduction to the customization process.

blank

Step 1 – Gemstone

First step is to pick the gemstone, you’ve always dreamt of in the perfect color, shape and cut. Start by letting me know your budget and what wishes you have regarding gem, size and color, and I’ll send you suggestions for beautiful gems. We have a beautiful stock of sapphires, tsavorites, tourmalines and spinels in our showroom, and on top of that we work closely together with our gem-supplier, who is sourcing specifically for your need as well.

Step 2 – Design

Next step is discussing the design in which you want the gemstone set. We create designs completely from scratch and will sketch suggestions in hand for you based on your wishes. If you see an Anpé design, that you like, but wish to get it with a different stone, color, metal or want to add or delete few details to make the design your own, that is possible as well.

Step 3 – CAD and computer graphic

Once you’ve decided on a design, we will create a CAD and computer graphic for you, so that you have the absolute best way of visualizing the finished design, before saying “go”.

Step 4 – Production

Once you’ve proved the design based on the CAD and computer graphic, the creation of your special piece will start. Expect a delivery time of 4-6 weeks from approving the CAD to delivery of your bespoke jewellery.

If you’re interested in seeing examples of other customers customized jewellery pieces, you can click here. Soon you will be able to design your own ring by mixing and matching gemstones and designs directly on the Anpé website as well. Stay tuned <3

The World of Colorful Gemstones

blankAnpé Atelier is a world of colors, and we’re on a mission to make fine jewellery way more colorful and playful. Anpé Atelier is challenging the traditional fine jewellery mindset and changes the focus from diamonds to colorful sapphires and other colored gemstones. Diamonds can still be found in Anpé designs, however they will always be secondary to the colorful gems.

We absolutely LOVE colorful gemstones, and since it’s the primary part of Anpé jewellery, we wanted to introduce you to the 6 gemstone species, we mainly work with.

Sapphire

Sapphire is the absolute main stone, we’re working with. The reason can be found in two incredible features: First of all sapphires come in all colors of the rainbow, which most people are actually not aware of. A lot of people think sapphire is mainly blue or pink, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. You can find it incredible green, sparkling yellow, clean white,  beautiful brown, ocean like teals, insane purple and of course incredible blue and amazing pink.blank

Some sapphires holds a mix of colors, and they are called bicolored sapphires.

A very rare and valuable sapphire comes in form of the padparadscha sapphire, which has an incredibly beautiful orange pink color. And another rare and crazy version of the sapphire is the colorchanging sapphire, which displays different colors depending on the light it’s in.

On top of that sapphires have incredible hardness, durability and luster, which makes it an excellent choice for everyday jewellery. It’s the second hardest gemstone in the world – only overruled by diamonds.

blankSapphire is the birthstone of September.

Tourmaline

Another very colorful gemstone is the tourmaline, and it holds an incredibly wide variety of beautiful colors. It is a semi-precious gemstone, and bicolored and multi colored effects are not unusual. You can even get watermelon tourmalines, which hold a green color at one end and pink at the other. Oh, how nature works, right!

We work mainly with pink and green tourmalines in different pink and green varieties in a class by themselves. The amazing colors and a good hardness are the main reasons, why we love this gemstone so much.

Tourmaline is the birthstone of October.

Tsavorite

Tsavorites are a variety of garnet, but pricewise it lies way higher than other blankgarnets. Tsavorites hold amazing green colors ranging from light green to green and over to dark and deep green. It is much rarer than emeralds, and lately it is often preferred over emeralds. Emeralds often have loads of inclusions, that can make them rather fragile, whereas tsavorites has a good toughness.

Tsavorites are therefore much more resistant to breakage compared to emerald, and they have no inclusions. Often tsavorites are not treated either, whereas emeralds usually are treated with oils. It is therefore a preferred gemstone, as it is durable enough for all types of jewellery – if you treat them properly.

As tsavorite is a variety of garnet, it is the birthstone of January.

Spinel

Spinel is also (surprise) a semiprecious gemstone, that comes in so many different colors. Spinel is actually colorless from natures hand, but they hold impurities, and these impurities give the beautiful gemstone a wide variety of colors.

blankThe most famous spinel holds a very deep red, that is very close to ruby – and it can be pretty difficult to tell to two apart. Blood red spinels are actually even more rare than ruby in the same color range.

However you can also find spinels in yellow, pink, blue, white etc., but we work mainly with the deep black and blue-black spinels, as these have the most insane deep black and sometimes blue black colors.

Spinel is the birthstone of August.

Ruby

Incredible rubies are most famed as the bright red gemstone, that holds both bright color, luster, rarity, hardness and durability.

Ruby actually is from the same family (Corundum) as sapphire, and the only thing that separates rubies and sapphires are the color. Sapphires don’t come in red – when they do, they are called rubies. This means, that sapphire and ruby are identical in all their properties, except from color.

Ruby is the birthstone of July.blank

Anpé Gems

All of our gemstones are handpicked and carefully selected. We work very closely with our suppliers to ensure, that the gemstones are ethically sourced under good conditions for the people working there.

If you’re looking to do a bespoke piece with a birthstone, a favourite color or a favourite gem, send us an e-mail at line@anpeateliercph.com – we love to make your colorful dreams come true. For more inspiration you can also check out our Instagram or Pinterest profiles.
