How to clean your fine jewellery

Fill a bowl with warm water and add a few drops of gentle dish soap. Soak your fine jewellery in the water for 20-40 mins. Gently brush the gemstones and under the gemstones with a soft toothbrush. Rinse under warm water. Pat dry with the microfiber cloth.

Be extra extra careful with white gold jewellery, as excessive brushing on the metal might damage the rhodium coating.

It may not always be possible to bring your fine jewellery to a jeweller to get it cleaned professionally. But cleaning your fine jewellery at home doesn’t necessarily require a special jewellery cleaner.

The easiest and best way to clean your fine jewellery by yourself involves a few basic household items:

  1. A mild dish detergent (choose one with natural ingredients)
  2. Lukewarm water
  3. A very soft toothbrush (preferably a baby toothbrush with very soft bristles)
  4. A soft, clean microfiber cloth

Don’t use any household items that contain abrasive materials (such as soda, powdered cleaners or toothpaste), household items that contain chlorine or other chemicals, or household items that contain acetone or acids (like lemon juice).

We offer free jewellery cleaning in our showroom in Copenhagen.
